Kampala,Jinja & Entebbe
Hilda and Lara came over for lunch today and we reminisced about
our wonderful visit to your country.
I have also returned to teaching nursing part-time at the Univesity
of Victoria.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening of African music and dancing at
Ndere Cultural center. John transported us safely through the
wild traffic on the streets of Kampala. A buffet dinner was served
as we watched the show with the sun setting in the distance. The
music and the costumes were a pleasure to behold.
We spent a day visiting Jinga at the source of the Nile River
with a side trip to Bugagali Falls It was a pleasure to leave
the chaos of the city end enjoy the lush, green countryside. Our
tour included a gentle boat ride up the Nile River into Lake Victoria.
It was very serene with birds clustered in the trees and swirling
eddies and fast moving currents beside the boat. At the very scenic
Bugagali Falls, we watched a man ride the rapids, clutching onto
an empty jerry can. We spent many hours in the car, but felt comfortable
and safe with our tour guide.
Trek Safaris also organized our trip to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary
on the island off the shores of Entebbe. Although we had extremely
heavy rain for our entire journey, it was an adventure to remember.
The boat company provided heavy duty rainwear and we navigated
the rough whitecaps on Lake Victoria. The chimpanzees entertain...rain
or shine! On our return to Entebbe, our guide John offered his
warm jacket to my very chilled friend.
Thanks again John and James for your hospitality. |
